The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences offers graduate studies leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Geological Sciences.
Admission to pursue an M.S. or Ph.D. degree requires a bachelor's degree, a minimum grade point average of 2.75, and three letters of reference. TOEFL scores are required for international applicants for whom English is not the first language. For more details, please consult Admissions Information and Assistantships and Fellowships.
We have well-establish Research Facilities within the department and our students also benefit from access to instrumentation across campus. An important asset here at UK is the research collaboration with other groups on campus which provide additional opportunities for our students. These often involve our adjunct faculty and include cooperation with the Kentucky Geological Survey, the Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute, and the Center for Applied Energy Research.
