Kenneth A. Macpherson
Ph.D. Candidate, 2006-2007 NSF Algebra Cubed Fellow
M.S. Mathematics, 2004, Murray State University
B.S. Geology/Mathematics, 2000, Murray State University
Ken joined the group in 2006 to pursue research for his doctorate. He is developing a 3-D numerical ground-motion model of the upper Mississippi embayment. The model employs a discontinuous grid finite-difference method with locally variable timesteps for efficiency. Ken is also interested in undergraduate and high school pedagogy.

David Vance
M.S. Geophysics, 2006, Kentucky
B.S. Geology, 2004, Kentucky
David's research involves the digitization of twenty years worth of shear wave velocity data, collected by researchers at UK, into an ArcGIS geodatabase and the production of derivative aps using stochastic interpolation techniques such as kriging. The goal is to use the internet to make this data more accessible to future researches.
